Woman Arrested for Series of Thefts at El Paso Planet Fitness Gyms

EL PASO, Texas — The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a woman in connection with a series of thefts at Planet Fitness gyms across the area.

Ruth Angelica Barraza, whose age was not disclosed, was taken into custody on May 24. She is linked to 10 thefts at five different Planet Fitness locations, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation began on May 6 when deputies were called to the Planet Fitness at 13681 Gateway West in East El Paso County. A woman reported that while she was working out, someone had removed the combination lock from her locker and stolen several items from her purse.

Deputies discovered that the suspect had used stolen credit cards to make unauthorized purchases at a Ross store. By reviewing surveillance footage from Ross and checking the Planet Fitness check-in history, deputies identified Barraza as the suspect. Further investigation linked her to a total of 10 thefts at various Planet Fitness locations.
