Starting June 1, the government will launch a nationwide campaign to provide Vitamin A plus capsules to 2.2 crore children across 1.2 lakh health care centres. ABM Khurshid Alam, director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), announced the initiative at a press briefing in Mohakhali.
The campaign aims to reach children aged 6 to 59 months, though some centres in Patuakhali, Barishal, Bhola, and Barguna will be temporarily excluded due to Cyclone Remal. Once conditions improve, these areas will be included.
Approximately 2.4 lakh volunteers and 40,000 health workers will participate in the campaign. Vitamin A capsules are crucial for preventing night blindness and reducing deaths from measles, diarrhoea, and pneumonia.
