In a disconcerting development, an employee of a gym and spa in Katy, Texas, has been apprehended on a charge of indecency with a child, according to the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office.
The alleged incident transpired at the Villa Sport Athletic Club and Spa situated on Gaston Road in the Cinco Ranch area. Joseph Brvenik, 17, was taken into custody following an investigation and subsequently released on a $75,000 bond. The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office disclosed that the investigation commenced on April 13, culminating in Brvenik’s arrest on April 29.
A member of Villa Sport shared a letter received from management, shedding light on the sequence of events. The missive revealed that an employee initially voiced concerns about potential misconduct involving a toddler under the gym’s care on March 21. Despite conducting a review of surveillance footage and interviewing staff, the gym concluded that no misconduct had occurred.
However, after no further action was taken, another employee raised concerns with the sheriff’s office, prompting an investigation. Villa Sport assured its members that it is fully cooperating with authorities in the ongoing inquiry.
In response to the unfolding situation, the gym underscored its commitment to child safety, assuring members that their children are secure under the care of Villa Kids. The letter addressed allegations circulating on social media, denouncing them as false and reiterating the gym’s dedication to safeguarding children.
Further inquiries into the matter revealed that the employee who flagged the incident has been “indefinitely suspended” by Villa Sport. Despite attempts to contact the gym for comment, there has been no response thus far.
Lauren Valluzzi, a member who shared the letter, expressed her intention to continue patronizing Villa Sport while advocating for change. She commended the gym’s proactive approach in addressing the issue and emphasized the importance of video surveillance in ensuring child safety.
Villa Sport Athletic Club and Spa prides itself on being a family-friendly fitness establishment, offering a range of activities and amenities tailored to families. However, in light of recent events, the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office urges concerned parents to come forward and report any related concerns by contacting FBCSO Investigations at 281-341-4686.
As the investigation unfolds, the community remains vigilant, prioritizing the safety and well-being of its members, especially the vulnerable.
