Wolters Kluwer is adding generative AI capabilities to the CDS platform UpToDate

by 帕特里亚

Wolters Kluwer Health, a global clinical technology company, has announced the addition of generative AI capabilities for collaboration to its UpToDate clinical decision support (CDS) solution.

Greg Samios, president and CEO of clinical effectiveness at Wolters Kluwer Health, told MobiHealthNews in an email that the platform, designed to provide evidence-based CDS, is viewed 1.7 million times a day by healthcare teams around the world to help deliver better care.

“The use of generative AI to search for and retrieve the most relevant and up-to-date medical information can enable clinicians to be much more efficient and effective in their search for the critical evidence related to their patient’s condition,” Samios said.

He adds that this is especially important as providers look for ways to reduce their administrative and cognitive burden.

“We are building AI Labs on the same UpToDate content that the global healthcare community has trusted and relied on for over 30 years,” Samios said. “This gives our customers a safe space to experiment with applying generative AI to this content, and evaluate its potential for use in clinical care.”

He said he believes the time is ripe to help clinicians navigate the complexities of healthcare by using these new technologies to generate answers and recommendations that are trustworthy and efficient.

In designing, developing and deploying the feature, the Waltham, Massachusetts-based company was guided by its AI Principles, which focus on privacy and security, governance and accountability, and transparency and explainability.
