Women often face unique health challenges but often struggle to access the care they need. Recognizing this, MinuteClinic®, part of CVS Health®, has tailored its services to meet women’s health needs through both in-person and virtual care options across the U.S. This personalized approach is based on feedback from women about their most pressing health concerns, including heart health, menopause, maternal mental health, and healthy aging.
Key Insights:
Women’s Health Care Needs: Women play a central role in health care decision-making for their families, yet they face barriers to accessing high-quality care tailored to their own needs. For example, 80% of medical residents report being uncomfortable providing care for menopause, even though 1.3 million women enter menopause each year.
MinuteClinic’s Focus: By conducting surveys with over 1,500 women, MinuteClinic has identified key health challenges women face, including maternal mental health conditions (which are often underdiagnosed) and the need for better menopause care. In response, MinuteClinic has created services to help women navigate these critical health stages.
Clinical Programs: In addition to focusing on menopause and maternal mental health, MinuteClinic has launched services aimed at supporting reproductive, sexual, and menstrual health. Providers are trained to address the specific needs of women, with 91% of advanced practice providers completing menopause transition training and 100% of behavioral health providers completing postpartum mental health training.
Results: This personalized approach has led to positive outcomes, including an 80% reduction in depression symptoms for women seeking postpartum mental health support.
MinuteClinic’s commitment to personalized care, both in-person and virtually, reflects a broader goal of improving women’s health by addressing the unique challenges they face throughout their lives. By incorporating feedback from women, providers, and organizations, MinuteClinic is working to offer high-quality, accessible care for women at every stage of their health journeys.
