Fusion Lifestyle, a leading fitness organization, is celebrating two significant milestones this month in Somerset: the 50th anniversary of Strode Swimming and Fitness Centre in Street and the grand reopening of Tor Leisure Centre following a major redevelopment project.
To mark these events, both centers are offering a special, complimentary three-day pass for all residents of Street and Glastonbury, allowing locals to experience the newly enhanced facilities.
Strode Swimming and Fitness Centre Anniversary Event
Strode Swimming and Fitness Centre, located in Street, will host a special event on Saturday, March 15, to commemorate its 50 years of service to the community. Originally opened in 1975, the center will offer a full day of free fitness classes and pool activities from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., catering to participants of all ages.
Rob Taylor, Regional Commercial Manager at Strode, said: “The 50th anniversary of the leisure center provides a wonderful opportunity for us to celebrate with our community and staff. We’re excited to offer a variety of free activities that will allow regulars to join in the festivities, while newcomers can explore the center’s offerings.”
All sessions are available for booking through the Fusion Lifestyle app.
Grand Reopening of Tor Leisure Centre
On March 1, Fusion Lifestyle celebrated the grand reopening of Tor Leisure Centre in Glastonbury after the completion of a £3 million redevelopment project. The event was attended by over 500 local residents and featured Sarah Dyke, Liberal Democrat MP for Glastonbury and Somerton.
Guests enjoyed guided tours of the new facilities, which include a fully equipped gym, two fitness studios, therapy rooms, a bar, and meeting rooms available for community events. The day was packed with activities, including free personal training sessions, fitness class taster sessions, acrobatic displays, a bouncy castle, children’s crafts, and a family rounders game, ensuring fun for all ages.
Anthony Cawley, CEO of Fusion Lifestyle, commented: “The reopening of Tor Leisure Centre marks an exciting new chapter for both Fusion Lifestyle and the Glastonbury community. As we celebrate 25 years in the community health and wellbeing sector, we understand the importance of centers like this in enhancing local life. We are confident the revamped Tor Leisure Centre will become a beloved hub for residents and visitors alike.”
Fusion Lifestyle continues to play a vital role in promoting health and wellbeing across Somerset, with the Strode and Tor Leisure Centres serving as key community spaces. As both centers evolve, Fusion looks forward to welcoming even more residents to their expanded and improved facilities.
