A new, immersive boxing-inspired fitness program, BOX12, is set to debut at Club Rhyl, following a £1 million refurbishment by Denbighshire Leisure Ltd (DLL). The facility will open its doors to the public on March 31, 2025.
BOX12 blends science, technology, and boxing to offer a dynamic and engaging workout space suitable for people of all fitness levels, not just boxers. The fully automated workout areas are equipped with digital coaching screens, allowing users to follow on-demand sessions at their convenience.
Jamie Groves, Managing Director of DLL, emphasized the organization’s commitment to innovation in fitness. “DLL is known for introducing groundbreaking fitness solutions, and BOX12 is no exception,” Groves said. “Following the success of our Studio 360 at Club Rhyl, which was the first of its kind in Wales, we are excited to bring this next-level fitness experience to our members.”
The BOX12 program is designed as a 36-minute, 12-round workout, combining boxing with functional fitness exercises to help users improve both cardiovascular fitness and overall strength. The format is aimed at making fitness fun while providing a challenging yet accessible workout for all participants.
Founded in 2019 by fitness veterans Jamie Cartwright and Jon Eade, BOX12 has expanded globally and is now available in over 75 locations across several countries. Eade expressed excitement about the partnership with DLL, noting, “We’re thrilled to bring BOX12 to Wales for the first time. Our virtual coaching system ensures that members can enjoy world-class boxing fitness programming whenever they want.”
The introduction of BOX12 is part of a broader renovation effort at Club Rhyl, which already includes the addition of a new strength gym, cardio room, and a specially designed HIIT training space, Studio X, earlier this year.
