Kenya’s beauty queen, Terry Ann Blessing Akoth, is poised to represent her country at the 2025 Miss Beauty of Africa International Pageant (BAIP) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, this February 15.
At a breakfast send-off ceremony held at Finix Casino in Nairobi, Terry Ann expressed her determination to bring the prestigious crown home, following in the footsteps of Cindy Isendi, who won the title in 2019.
“I am excited and honored to represent Kenya on such a significant stage,” Terry Ann said. “I promise to give my best and make my motherland proud.”
Finix Casino, a key sponsor, presented Terry Ann with a return air ticket, with the casino’s Liaison Officer, Cliff Mboya, reaffirming their commitment to supporting her journey. “We are incredibly proud to be part of BAIP, as it aligns with our mission to celebrate beauty, talent, and sports in Kenya,” Mboya remarked.
A model, actress, and skilled violinist, Terry Ann is also passionate about nature and art. She is the founder of the Empowering All initiative, which focuses on poverty alleviation and promoting social equity. A student at KCA University, she is committed to creating an inclusive society in Kenya where equal opportunities can help uplift every individual.
Having won the BAIP Kenya title in 2024, Terry Ann described the opportunity as both surreal and humbling. “It is an honor to represent the beauty, strength, and resilience of African women on such a global platform,” she said. “Through my project, Empowering All, I aim to celebrate and preserve Africa’s rich cultural heritage, while uplifting marginalized communities and addressing issues of poverty and inequality.”
Kenya has a strong track record in the BAIP competition. Cindy Isendi’s 2019 victory was followed by a brief hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, a Namibian model took the crown, with Kenya’s Miriam Rae finishing as first runner-up. In 2022, Kenya’s Messry Lungatso claimed the title, and in 2024, Joy Wambugu finished in the top five.
As Terry Ann heads to Addis Ababa, there is a strong sense of optimism that she will continue Kenya’s proud legacy in the competition.
