Flu cases in the state are on the rise, signaling the continuation of a challenging winter season. Health experts are urging residents to take immediate action to protect themselves and the community.
Dr. Amada Novack, an infectious disease and internal medicine physician, warns that the flu outbreak is “fast-approaching” its peak and urges everyone to be vigilant. “We really don’t see the end of flu season in sight yet, and so I would encourage people it’s not too late to get some protection,” Dr. Novack said. She emphasized that getting vaccinated can help ease symptoms or prevent infection altogether.
As flu numbers increase, the state’s health department continues to monitor the situation closely. Dr. Novack stressed that while it’s not too late for flu shots, practicing good hygiene, staying home when sick, and wearing masks can also aid in preventing the spread of the virus.
