The first-ever East Ahmedabad Half Marathon took place on Sunday, January 19, in Nikol, drawing hundreds of participants across three race categories—21 km, 10 km, and 5 km. The event aimed to promote fitness and raise awareness about important health issues, including cardiac, neuro, and orthopedic conditions.
Organized by Harmony Hospital, Nikol, and Mount Litera Zee School, the marathon not only provided a platform for fitness enthusiasts but also educated the public on the significance of physical health in preventing and managing various health challenges.
A Platform for Health Education
Dr. Mukesh Patel, founder of Harmony Hospital, expressed excitement about the event, emphasizing its dual purpose: promoting fitness and educating citizens on health. “The East Ahmedabad Half Marathon is not just about running; it’s about inspiring our community to prioritize their health, especially when it comes to preventing and managing heart, brain, and bone-related issues,” said Dr. Patel.

The event also attracted several prominent local figures, including Traffic DCP (East Zone) Safin Hasan, AMA President Dr. Dhiren Mehta, and Daskroi MLA Babubhai Patel, who attended the flag-off and prize distribution ceremony.
Dr. Paresh Gohel, Chairman of Mount Litera Zee School, noted the significance of the marathon in fostering a culture of fitness within the community. “This event was an essential step in encouraging preventive healthcare and establishing fitness as a priority among citizens,” Dr. Gohel said.
Dr. Ishan Rudani of Pixel Plus Diagnostics expressed gratitude for the overwhelming response, highlighting the collaboration between healthcare professionals, fitness enthusiasts, and the community at large. “The success of this marathon reflects a growing interest in fitness and health awareness, and we are thrilled with the participation,” Dr. Rudani said.
