Valley Health and St. Luke Community Clinic have announced a partnership aimed at enhancing access to dental care for low-income and underinsured individuals in Warren County and surrounding areas. This collaboration, which includes ongoing financial support from Valley Health, is critical to the clinic’s mission of providing healthcare services to those who may otherwise lack access.
The St. Luke Community Clinic, located in Front Royal, offers a range of healthcare services, with dental care being a key area of focus. Recently, the clinic has expanded its dental services to include the production of dentures for patients 18 and older. To meet the growing demand, St. Luke has hired a part-time dentist to address a backlog of patients requiring care.
Vicki Davies, Executive Director of St. Luke Community Clinic, emphasized the pressing need for dental services in the region. “The demand for dental care is extremely high,” she stated. “For many low-income and uninsured individuals, dental health is often neglected until it becomes an emergency, such as an abscess that requires a trip to the emergency room. However, good oral health is essential for overall physical health. Poor dental hygiene is linked to a variety of serious conditions, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, stroke, cancer, and kidney disease.”
The clinic primarily serves residents of Warren County, but when space allows, it extends its services to individuals from neighboring areas, including Shenandoah, Clarke, Winchester, and Frederick counties.
“Our mission is to provide high-quality healthcare services to those who need it most,” said Davies. “With Valley Health’s support, we can expand our dental program and reach even more individuals in the Shenandoah Valley who might otherwise go without essential care.”
This partnership highlights the ongoing commitment of both organizations to address the healthcare needs of underserved communities in the region.
