Sincere Show, the former Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood star, has tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently hospitalized with pneumonia in both lungs.
In an emotional Instagram video posted from his hospital bed, the 32-year-old reality TV alum shared his battle with the novel coronavirus, revealing his condition and urging the public to take the virus seriously.
“It took a lot for me to make this video as I am a very private person, but it is important for me to share my story,” Show captioned the video. “Please everyone take this seriously. #Covid19 #Coronavirus Protect yourself, protect your family.”
Show recounted how his illness began, telling his followers, “About a week ago, I wasn’t feeling my best. I had to call the ambulance to take me to the hospital.” After undergoing several tests, he was diagnosed with COVID-19 and has been in the hospital since. “I know this thing is affecting everybody differently. For me, I have pneumonia in both my lungs, which makes it difficult for me to breathe,” he explained.
Although he mentioned feeling “a little better” since his hospitalization, Show expressed concern over the lack of comprehensive understanding of the virus among healthcare professionals. “Nobody fully understands what it is yet. It’s just a waiting game. It’s like putting a Band-Aid over a stab wound with some of the treatments,” he said, noting that Tylenol was recommended for his symptoms. “They don’t really have the answers, man.”
Despite the uncertainty, Show remains optimistic. “I’m gonna be all right regardless,” he assured his fans, ending the video with a call to action. “What I just want everybody to really understand … is that this thing is serious. Playtime is over.”
Before his hospitalization, Show had already warned his followers about the seriousness of the virus. In a video posted on March 12, he wore a blue surgical mask and emphasized the dangers of COVID-19, stating, “Y’all think this s— a game? This s— is not a game.”
The novel coronavirus, now known as COVID-19, first emerged in Wuhan, China, in late December. Since then, the virus has spread globally, prompting the World Health Organization to declare a public health emergency, the first since the Zika epidemic in 2016. Initially confined to China, the virus quickly spread internationally due to Wuhan’s status as a major transportation hub. As people traveled from Wuhan to other countries, the virus reached numerous nations, including the United States.
The first confirmed U.S. case was reported in Everett, Washington, in a man who had recently returned from Wuhan. Since then, the number of cases has grown exponentially, with the virus spreading rapidly across the country.
As of Monday afternoon, the U.S. has reported at least 163,417 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 3,055 deaths. The United States now has the highest number of confirmed cases globally, surpassing both China and Italy. Worldwide, there are at least 770,600 confirmed cases and 37,042 deaths as of March 30.
