Fungiments: The Rise of Mushroom-Based Supplements for Wellness

by Krystal

Mushroom-based supplements are experiencing a surge in popularity, thanks to brands like Fungiments. Founded by Colombian-born actress Maria Camila Giraldo, Fungiments offers a range of gummies and capsules infused with mushrooms, adaptogens, and vitamins aimed at promoting optimal health.

Giraldo, known for her role in the telenovela “La Reina del Sur,” was inspired by her mother, an Ayurveda doctor, and her own experience with a serious concussion. After struggling with intense post-concussion symptoms and seeking natural remedies, Giraldo discovered the benefits of mushroom supplements.

“With the help of my doctor, I found these mushroom supplements with adaptogens, and for the first time since my concussion, I felt some relief,” Giraldo shared with Athletech News. This positive experience led her to launch Fungiments.

Tailored Mushroom Formulas

Fungiments creates specific formulas for different needs. For example, “Super Bounce” combines cordyceps, ginseng, and green tea extract to boost energy and concentration. “Super Chill” includes reishi, ashwagandha, and passionflower for relaxation, while “Super Prune” features Turkey Tail for gut health. Giraldo emphasizes that the combination of mushrooms with other adaptogens and vitamins enhances the efficacy and speeds up the results.

Targeting Wellness-Obsessed Consumers

Fungiments targets Gen Z and Millennial consumers, aged 25-42, leveraging social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok. The brand collaborates with influencers to promote its products and aims to merge wellness with fun. “Life is more fun when you have superpowers,” Giraldo says, highlighting the brand’s slogan.

Industry Growth and Investment

The functional mushroom market is booming, with substantial investments flowing in. For instance, Spacegoods, another mushroom-based startup, raised $3.1 million in seed funding. Functional beverage brand Odyssey also secured $6 million for its ready-to-drink mushroom-infused cans. According to market research, the functional mushroom market is expected to reach $31.3 million this year and could grow to $83.6 million by 2033.

As the market for functional mushrooms continues to expand, Fungiments aims to stand out with its innovative, fun, and health-focused approach, backed by personal experience and scientific research.
