Police Seek Public Help in Investigating Suspicious Wendouree Fire

BALLARAT, Australia — Detectives from the Ballarat Crime Investigation Unit are appealing for public assistance as they investigate a suspicious fire that occurred in Wendouree last month.

The incident took place at a gym on Howitt Street around 3:20 a.m. on Saturday, May 25. According to police reports, two males forced the doors open and poured accelerant inside the building, at the front, and in the carpark before igniting it.

Fortunately, no one was inside the gym at the time of the incident. However, the fire caused significant damage to the reception area.

The suspects fled the scene on foot, heading east on Howitt Street. Investigators have released CCTV footage and images of the two men believed to be involved.

One suspect is described as tall with a stocky build, wearing a hoodie, black gloves, shorts, and Nike runners. The description of the second man remains unknown.

Police are working diligently to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the fire, and the investigation is ongoing.
