A new survey reveals that implementing a four-day work week could significantly improve employees’ mental health and overall wellbeing.
The workplace survey, conducted by HR Buddy, highlights the challenges workers face in disconnecting from their jobs. According to the findings, a significant portion of the workforce, specifically one-third of Irish employees, is unaware of their right to disconnect outside of working hours.
Now in its fourth year, the annual survey also identifies the four-day work week as the most popular suggestion for improving work-life balance.
Damien McCarthy, Managing Director of HR Buddy, commented on the findings, stating that the desire for more time off was evident in the survey results. “When we asked respondents what changes could improve their work-life balance, the introduction of a four-day work week and additional time off were consistently mentioned as top priorities,” McCarthy said.
The survey underscores growing concerns over workplace stress and highlights the potential benefits of reducing the traditional five-day work schedule.
