Sarah Stewart, a native of Lubbock and seasoned fitness trainer, found her passion for fitness at a young age. It all began during her time at Frenship High School, where she excelled in anatomy and physiology, setting the stage for her future career. After graduating from Texas Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sports Science in 2000, Stewart embarked on a journey to educate and inspire others about the importance of proper movement in fitness.
Stewart emphasizes four fundamental “pillars” in her approach to effective workouts. These include level changes, such as lunges, squats, and deadlifts; push movements like push-ups and bench presses; pull movements targeting the back and lats with exercises like pull-downs and back flies; and rotational movements to engage and stabilize the core.
For those aiming to establish a solid workout routine, Stewart recommends performing these movements in sets of 12-15 reps across three to four sets per session, spanning several days a week. Her approach encourages variety and balance to achieve comprehensive fitness goals.
In addition to exercise, Stewart places a strong emphasis on nutrition, advocating for a balanced diet timed around workout sessions. She suggests a dietary ratio of 40% carbohydrates, 30% fats, and 30% protein to optimize energy levels and muscle recovery. Stewart advises against unhealthy eating habits and instead promotes choices like avocado, chicken breast, and salmon paired with salads for optimal nutrition.
Combining her expertise in fitness and nutrition, Stewart aims to orchestrate holistic training experiences that benefit the entire body. Whether through personalized one-on-one sessions or group classes accommodating up to 30 individuals, Stewart’s goal is to empower her clients to achieve peak physical fitness.
“The body functions like a symphony,” Stewart explains, “each part contributing to the harmony. By ensuring every component, from shoulders to core, is in sync, we can achieve optimal health and fitness.”
Stewart’s dedication to fitness education and personalized training underscores her commitment to helping the Lubbock community lead healthier lives, one workout at a time.
